Ways to make money on the internet:

You may not become rich and famous, but you can make a living!

With all the shenanigans going on in the economy and on Wall Street, the average Joe and Jane are feeling a bit nervous after their future job security. Too many industries have laid off large numbers of workers for anyone to feel like they're in the catbird seat at their place of employment. To offset this insecurity, more and more people are looking for ways to make money on the internet. Here are some suggestions which might work for you.

There are basically two categories of ways to make money on the internet. You can create a website or blog and sell products and services. Developing a website or blog can take quite a while and lots of work, before you start to see a return. However, if you're serious about becoming self reliant and have the self discipline to work on your site consistently, you can make it happen. You'll also need to get up to speed on internet marketing. There's a lot to learn about getting good search engine rankings. You may find it expedient to hire a marketer. There are many top-notch marketers who can help. These people will be able to tailor a marketing campaign to your situation.

Some people are very successful as sellers on eBay. There is a learning curve here too, familiarizing yourself with the way things work. This avenue is well suited to people who like garage sales, flea markets, antique collecting and such. Essentially, you find deals on items in your area of the marketplace and turn them over for a profit. You set a minimum bid (which assumes you'll make a profit!). Whatever you get over the minimum bid is gravy.

In the second category of ways to make money on the internet, you might opt for freelancing, selling your skills to existing websites. This is probably a faster way to an income, but be prepared to work hard. Again, self discipline is key to your success. For example, if you have graphic design skills, or are proficient in web design, there's work to be had. If you're a writer, editor or proofreader, you'll find work. There are plenty of job boards for freelancers, so look around for ones pertaining to your skill set.

What if you don't have any specialized skills? There are still many ways to make money on the internet, which is a little tougher and absolutely requiring due diligence on your part. However, some people do well enough to make a living. You'll find companies that pay you to review software as well as websites. There are also opportunities to fill out surveys and get paid to do so! You must watch out for scammers, as, just as in everyday society, they're on the net. Google 'top work at home jobs' for thousands of results. If you decide to sign up with a company, Google 'scams company-name' to see if they are legitimate.

Last, but not least in our ways to make money on the internet comes from Google. Google Answers pays $2.50 if you can answer a question in your areas of expertise.

Build up your business gradually. Don't quit your day job before your net income exceeds what you're now making! Good luck!
